These events share many similarities to the burglaries that occurred in 2012 during which many Indian homes were targeted. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is diligently and aggressively working the recent incidents along with our partner law enforcement agencies. I wanted to provide you with some details of the investigation thus far and share information to pass on to the community that will aid our investigation and more importantly keep the community safe.
On October 3rd and 4th, 2014 there were four incidents that closely matched those that occurred in 2012. The suspects in the recent incidents were described as black or dark skin males, early to mid 20’s, Spanish or non-English speaking, varying heights and weights. The suspects were associated to a newer silver SUV with out of state license plates.
During three of the incidents no entry was made to the victim’s home. The suspects may knock at the door prior to breaking into a house in an attempt to confirm that no one is home. If someone answers the door the suspects ask for a fictitious person and leave when told that person doesn’t live there. During the fourth incident entry was made to the victim residence by breaking the glass from a rear sliding-glass door. During this incident it appears that the suspects may have fled the scene quickly because valuables were not taken.
I am sharing this information with you because we want the community to know about this matter as soon as possible. Many times our best source of information is alert community members that are looking for things in their neighborhoods that don’t belong or look out of the ordinary. It is extremely important that suspicious activity is reported to police as soon as it is seen.
